Why should I book with Waxman Training Academy?

We believe your relationship with Waxman Training Academy shouldn’t end when your course is finished. We are always available to answer any questions you may have on any of our courses, including advice on progression and upcoming training that may fit your interests. As most industry accreditations have an expiry date, we always look forward to welcoming back candidates and helping them achieve their goals.

What Solid Fuel courses do you offer?

At Waxman Training Academy, we offer a wide range of courses from our ‘Foundation to Installer’ course to help kickstart your career in solid fuels, to three-day intense programs for experienced installers. We also offer refresher courses which all practising installers are required to take every five years to help top up their knowledge and ensure work carried out adheres to the latest industry standards. Whichever stage you’re at in your career, visit our course list to find the best course for you.

What Electrical courses do you offer?

Coming soon to Waxman Training Academy is the City and Guilds Level 3 Award in Electric Vehicle Charging Equipment Installation (2919-01-02) in association with NAPIT. Covering the specialised installation requirements of electric vehicle charging equipment in public, private and commercial locations, the course provides the next step for installers wanting to progress in the electrical technology sector. Please get in touch if you would like further information on this course or to discuss provisional course dates.

What do I need to study before attending a Waxman Training Academy course?

Some of our courses will require prerequisites, however, these will be clearly displayed alongside each course description and within the downloadable course manual. It is always useful to familiarise yourself with any Building Regulations which govern the installation of specific technologies.

What is the best way for me to book onto one of your courses?

Between the hours of 9am and 5pm the easiest way to book is by calling our sales team on 01422 371811 or by chatting to us via our online messaging system (situated in the bottom right of your screen). Alternatively, you can leave us a message at any time via our contact page where we’ll get back to you at the earliest opportunity.

How do I pay for my place on one of your courses?

Payments for your course can be made over the phone by credit card, bank transfer or by cheque which will be discussed with you at the time of booking. Some candidates may wish to book courses months in advance; in this case, you can choose to pay a 20% deposit to secure your place and pay the balance 2 weeks before the start of the course.

Information about payment terms, refunds and cancellations can be found in our terms and conditions at the bottom of this page.

What should I bring with me when attending one of your courses?

The training academy houses a number of working rigs and fault finding systems and therefore attendees are advised to bring clothing which would be appropriate as ‘workwear’ including steel-toe cap boots.

All other necessary personal protective equipment will be provided as part of the course.

Where is the Waxman Training Academy and where can I park?

Parking is free on-site for all attendees with all courses taking place in our purpose-built training facility in Elland, West Yorkshire – conveniently situated near Junction 24 of the M62.

When do your courses run?

A detailed list of available courses can be viewed on our interactive calendar which is updated regularly. If you are interested in a specific course but cannot see an available date, please contact our sales office to enquire about future dates.

Waxman Training Academy reserves the right to cancel any of our courses with due notice. We appreciate that it is often difficult to take time off work or turn down jobs in order to attend a training course and if in the rare case that a course has been cancelled, applicants can transfer to another course or seek a full refund. A copy of the Waxman Training Academy terms and conditions are available at the foot of this page.

What time do your courses begin and end?

The majority of our courses run between 09:30 and 16:30 although attendees should aim to arrive at the Academy for 09:00. Please see the information outlined next to each course for the exact start and end times or get in touch.

If I’m travelling a long way, is there anywhere I can stay locally?

We have close relationships with a number of establishments in the local area, some of which offer special discounts in conjunction with the Academy. For more information, give us a call on 01422 371811 or click here for a detailed list of local hotels and guest houses.

When will I receive my completed course certificates?

We aim to complete and despatch all paperwork to the relevant awarding body in the same week as your training. The process is usually completed within 2 weeks, however, we do ask that candidates allow up to 4 weeks for receiving any certificates and associated documents.

Anyone who has not received a certificate after 4 weeks should contact the awarding body directly.

How long do my accreditations last?

Since June 2014 it has been a mandatory requirement from DCLG (The Department of Communities and Local Government) for all registered operatives on competent person schemes to have successfully completed a relevant training course within the past 5 years. Waxman Training Academy runs a two-day refresher course which enables registered installers to maintain their Competent Person Scheme Registration.
